Creating, Saving And Opening Documents

Word provides the facility of creating, saving the documents. Many of the beginners don’t know about the word anything. Even they don’t know how to create save a document. To create a new document in Word, Follow these steps.
• Click on File in the Menu bar to open the File menu.
• Select the new option from the file menu. A new dialog bow is displayed.
• Click on the blank document icon.
• Click on Document button in create new box on the bottom on the right corner.
• Click on OK button.

A Blank New Document opens on the screen.
Saving A Document
When a document is typed, it is stored in the internal memory of the machine. To be recalled later for future use, it must be saved in the disk.
To save document, follow these steps:
• Click on File in the Menu bar and select the Save As options from the dropdown menu.The save as dialog box is displayed.
• Type the file name in the File name: box and click on save button.

The document is saved with the specified name. By default, a Word document is saved with a .doc extension.
Opening An Existing Document
The steps to open an existing document are as follows:
• Click on File in the menu bar and select the open option from the file menu. An open dialog box appears on the screen.
• Select the Drive and Folder where the desired file is located.
• Select the file from the list or type the name of the file in the File name: box.
• Click on Open button. The selected document opens on the screen.
