FIND AND REPLACE

If a word or phrase or portion of the text has to be searched and changed to some other text the Find and Replace features of word can used.
Finding Text
• Place the cursor in the text from where the search should begin.
• Click on Edit option on the menu bar.
• Click on Find option in the dropdown menu.
• A Find and Replace dialog box appears.
• Enter the text to be searched in the Find what: box.
• Click on the More button to see the additional options, if necessary. Additional options appear in the lower part of the Find and Replace box.

Some of these options are:

Match case: If an exact match of the word in upper case/lower case has to be done.

Find whole words only: To search for the specified word only and not the words containing that word as a part.

• Select the suitable option and click on Find button to start searching for the text. The cursor stops at the position where it finds the desired characters or word in the text.
• To continue searching click on Find Next button.

To close the dialog box click on cancel button or on the close button in the top right corner of the box.

Replacing One Text By Another
• Place the cursor in the text from where you want to start searching the text.
• Click on the Edit option in the menu bar.
• Click on the Replace option in the dropdown menu.
• The Find and Replace dialog box appears on the screen.
• Enter the text to be found in the Find what: box
• Enter the new text in the Replace with: box
• Click on the Replace button.

The old text gets replaced with new one, where it first finds the text to be replaced. If you wish to replace the similar text in the whole of the document, click on the Replace All button after making suitable selections.
