Adding items to the start button
The best way to edit windows registry keys then all the times export and backup the entire window registry keys on the backup drive before making any change. By chance if you had made any mistake in Registry then your computer may have suffer with a serious problem and cannot run properly.
To make changing in the Start button setting follow these steps.

First of all you have to click on the Start button and click on the run option.

Run option appears then type Regedit in Run option.

Go to left hand panel in the Registry Editor and find Hkey_ Classes_Root /Directory / Shell.

There you will find a Shell folder option makes a right click on it and insert your desired key with descriptive name and press enter.

By right clicking on the key give the full path of the desired program that you want to add in the start button. For instance, if you want to add MS Word, then its route may be C:\program file\msoffice\msword.EXE.

At the end close the opened program and check out the changes which you have made in the start button.
