My Documents folder is used to save different documents by default. Most of the programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Access save their data in My Documents. My Documents also have subfolders named My Pictures, My Music and My Received Files with more sub-folders contained within them. The reason is those folder take lots of space so they are treated separately. When you install the Window, its location is on C drive by default; however you can change its location to any other drive.
